STERIS Spordex® Biological Indicator Strips are specifically designed for determining the effectiveness of steam, ethylene oxide (EO) and dry heat sterilization procedures.  Each strip is inoculated with bacterial spores, either Bacillus atrophaeus (BA) (formerly Bacillus subtilis var. niger) for ethylene oxide and dry heat sterilization or Geobacillus stearothermophilus (GS) for saturated steam sterilization. Each easy to peel glassine pouch has the lot number, organism and expiration printed on it. Spordex Biological Indicator Strips are available in a variety of standard populations as well as custom configurations.

HOW SPORDEX STRIPS WORK

Spordex Biological Indicator Strips are small strips of special filter paper inoculated with bacterial spores, either Bacillus atrophaeus (BA) for ethylene oxide and dry heat sterilization or Geobacillus stearothermophilus (GS) for saturated steam sterilization. Each strip is packaged in a glassine envelope and is used to validate or requalify sterilization processes.
