STERIS Technical Services Manager Named to PDA Science Advisory Board
STERIS has announced that Jim Polarine, Senior Manager for Technical Services, has been named to the Parental Drug Association’s Science Advisory Board (SAB).
Polarine will serve a 3-year term on the SAB, the longest-standing Advisory Board at PDA. He joins a select group of industry experts who will provide guidance and set strategic direction for PDA on technical topics associated with pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality.
This appointment is the latest honor for Polarine, who has more than 30 years of experience in the industry. He has been an active PDA member since 2001, where he currently serves as President of the PDA Missouri Valley Chapter. He teaches for PDA’s Aseptic Processing Course and the University of Tennessee’s Parenteral Medications Course. He is a 2019 PDA Michael S. Korczynski Award recipient and has authored several industry articles and industry book chapters. He has also presented full-day workshops and seminars at industry events across the globe.

Jim has been an integral member of the STERIS Life Sciences team for 23 years. His current technical focus is on microbial control in cleanrooms and other critical environments. He conducts on-site trainings, hosts webinars and provides high-level technical support for Customers in the biopharmaceutical industry.
In addition to his work with PDA, Polarine is the Vice President of Membership for the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) and is also an active member of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (SIMB) and other industry associations.
